Well, after seeing a link to this page posted in the FFXIah forums, I decided to drop in :)!
I am so thrilled to have read the piece you posted about you (and briefly, your husband^^) and I’m happy to see that there are other people out there who dislike endgame and the drama it brings^^ lol. I agree that this game is best played with friends, when the focus shifts to the shiny boxes and the +1’s, greed becomes a factor and many friendships are ruined by this.
Like you, I play with my husband Tmiller, he hates crafting, thinks it’s the most boring thing ever… so I craft enough for the both of us! lol But we do enjoy the storyline, we are yet to complete ToAU (We are such slackers :( lol) but we have done ZM and CoP simply because we got hooked on the storyline. (I highly recommend CoP, Sehl’Teus [the freaky pale boy] is badass!!^^ lol)
We also run a very close-knit but low-man linkshell too^^. It’s quiet, but we’ve got friends in there from years ago still with us, who share our dislike of endgame drama :P so if you and your husband-galka-person /wave!! lol do decide to come back to FF, there’s a spot in Crossroads on Asura server for you both if you’d like it :)

Thank you for putting this site up, too! It’s a wonderful resource and as soon as I can uncap my cooking (Thanks, ebisu rod quest -_-!! /shakes fist) I’ll make the crawl from 80 >100 in no time thanks to this site :)
